Got Your Six UK CIC
Got Your Six UK is a Community Interest Company promoting military mental health and wellbeing through counselling, psychotherapy, support, and local events.
Founded and run by Army spouse, Tara, in conjunction with Andy, an Rifles veteran and Gaz, an Army Air Corps veteran.
In June 2024, GYSUK opened a military community wellbeing hub in Wincanton, Somerset, comprising of therapy, informal drop-in support, a second-hand bookshop, and wellbeing garden.
We also provide a military specific counselling service based at The Veterans Hub Weymouth and Portland CIC twice per week and have a team of Peer Support Mentors to provide informal support through difficult times.
Tara is also a Director and Safeguarding Lead of The Veterans Hub, helping to steer the project to greater heights. Visit theveteranshub.co.uk to find out more.
Tara is a BACP registered therapist (member:403000), trained integratively to Advanced Diploma level, providing trauma-informed Counselling and Psychotherapy to the military community.
Tara has a unique way of working which meets the military community on their level, uses common forces language, and understands the issues faced by military families.
The service has received some great feedback so far with client referrals coming in from local GP’s, military charities and agencies, and organisations. The service is open to the whole military community including spouses, and relatives (18+).
Alongside counselling qualifications, Tara is Mental Health First Aid trained specifically for the Armed Forces Community through MHFA England, and Suicide Intervention trained through ASIST – Living Works.
In April 2023, we held the first of our annual military community art exhibitions and it was a roaring success! With exhibits from across the country, we included veterans, spouses, serving personnel, and military kids artwork, photography, and poetry!
